POSN Foundation
Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra gave her own asset to professor Sakda Siripan, who is the president of the Science Society of Thailand Under the Patronage of His Majesty the King at that time, to establish the Promotion of Academic Olympiad and Development of Science Education Foundation under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra (POSN). Her highness also became the president of the foundation.
The POSN foundation has two main purposes.
1. To give high school students with outstanding ability in sciences and mathematics an opportunity to develop their potential in mathematics, computer, chemistry, biology and physics, depending on their dexterities. The development concentrates on both theoretical and practical skills, so that they can analyze and synthesize complicated problems and be prepared for attending the selection of Thailand representatives for the International Academic Olympiad.
2. To elevate the education in sciences, mathematics and computer sciences in high school level to international standard.
POSN center
POSN centers are the organizations for development of intelligence capability in sciences, mathematics and computer sciences for students nationwide, so that they can participate in academic competitions in continental level and international level.
These centers follow the royal idea of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, the president of the POSN foundation.
There are 17 local POSN centers scattering in every region of Thailand. Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University is one of the local POSN centers. You can find further information from its official website:

POSN training camps
The POSN foundation and all POSN centers collaborate in organizing training camps countrywide for students. As for the Chiang Mai University POSN center, the detail of the training camp is stated below.
Registration
You can check for the schedule and detail of the registration from its website. The registration for the examination to select the 1st camp participants usually starts in July.
The training camp schedule
The 1st camp is in October. The students who are chosen after the 1st camp is finished attend the 2nd camp in March.
There are 6 students selected after the 2nd camp. They are the representatives of Chiang Mai University POSN center to join the Thai Mathematical Olympiad (TMO), the national competition that follows the model of International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), which is arranged around May or June.
The top 25 competitors from TMO advance to the national training camp, which is the next step for IMO Thailand representative selection process.
Benefit for 2nd camp attendants
Those who are qualified for the 2nd camp have the privilege to study in Chiang Mai University. The foundation announces the detail annually in the POSN website.
